Cross-ventilation |

Cross-ventilation is the most important cooling device for small-scale buildings. The overgrown roof insulates the spaces underneath from heat radiation and does not need to be ventilated, while the MCR tiles of the other pitch do create quite a lot of heat, which has to be dissipated by ventilation. Between the roof tiles and the insulation layer lays a space of 175 mm in which the air can circulate freely. Each room (except bathroom) has at least one window opening of 1,4 m2, plus one door, which leads to an aerated area. Besides the normal ventilation, the rooms underneath the MCR tiles can additionally be ventilated through windows in the upper part of the central wall.
